TASK: Steps by steps explain how to save a document
in external storage devices i.e. floppy, flash, and CDs.
INTRODUCTION
A
document is writing that provide information (especially information of an
official nature)
According
to Edward, (1985) Floppy it is a type of disc storage composed of disk of thin
and flexible magnetic storage medium, sealed in a rectangular plastic enclosure
lined with fabric that removes dust particles. Floppy disk drives still have limited uses,
especially with legacy industrial computer equipments; they have been
supervised by data storage methods with greater capacity such as Universal
serial bus (USB), Flash sticks, and flash storage cards.
Compact disc (CDs) is digital
optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony and
released in 1982. The format was originally developed to
store and play only sound recordings Compact Disc Digital Audio (CD-DA) but was
later adapted for storage of data Compact Disc Read-only Memory (CD-ROM).
STEPS
TO FOLLOW WHEN SAVING DOCUMENTS IN EXTERNAL STORAGE
Flash drive
Step
1: Insert the flash drive into a USB port on your Computer.
Make
sure that you don’t force the drive into the Port; it only goes in one way.
Step
2: Ensure that the flash drive appears on your computer.
You
will usually receive a notification that the flash drive has been detected. If
these notifications are turned off, you can check to see if it is connected. If
your USB drive is not appearing see the Troubleshooting section.
·
Windows- Open the Computer window by
clicking the folder button in the task bar. Your Flash driver should be listed
in the Devices and drives.
·
Mac- your Flash drive should appear on
your desktop when it is inserted.
Step
3: Open the Flash drive to see its content.
Double-
click the Flash driver to open it and view the files stored on it. The Flash
drive will be usually be labeled ‘Removable Storage’, but it could be labeled
something else.
Step
4: Find the files you want to copy to the Flash drive.
Keep
your Flash drive window open and open a new Explorer or Finder window. Navigate
to the file or files that you want to transfer.
Step
5: Select multiple files by holding Control (Ctrl) or Command and clicking each
one.
This
will allow you to select multiple files at once. You can only select multiple
files from the same window.
Step
6: Drag the files onto the Flash drive`s window.
·
Depending on how the Flash drive is
formatted, it may not be able to store files largen than 4GB in size.
Step
7: Wait for the files to copy.
The
copy process may take a while, especially if you are copying large files or the
Flash drive is older. A progress bar will appear, indicating how much time
remains.
Step
8: Eject the Flash driver before removing it from your computer.
Once
the copying process is finished, you will want to eject the Flash driver from
your operating system before removing it from your computer.
·
Windows- click the “Safely Remove
Hardware” icon your system Tray. Click “Eject Flash” for the Flash drive that
you want to remove.
·
Mac- drag the Flash drive from the
desktop to your Trash.
Step
9: Remove the Flash drive.
Once
you have ejected the Flash drive, you can safely remove it from the computer.
You can then take that Flash drive to any other computer and transfer the files
on it.
Generally;
Computer helps students to learn at their own pace. It produces significant
time saving over conventional classroom instruction. Also it allows students’
control over the rate and sequence of their learning. It promotes
individualized instruction through personalized responses to learner’s action
to yield a high rate of reinforcement. It provides a more positive affective
climate especially for slower learners. Moreover it provides appropriate
record-keeping and thereby monitors students’ progress. Novelty of working with
a computer raised students’ motivation.

QUESTION;
With the relation to fifth generation of computer write on future of the human
Computer is delivered
from a Latin word “Computer” which means “to calculate” “to count” “to sum up” or “to think
together” So more precisely the word
computer means a device that perform computation. Computer is an electronic
device that is designed to work with information.
The computer represents
a decimal number through a string of binary digits. The word computer usually
refers to the center of processor unit plus internal memory.
Machumilane, (2017),
defines computer as an electronic device, (employs electrons) that accept data
as an input, processes it according to some predefined instructions and produce
an output.
According to Oxford dictionary,
(1997), Computer is an electronic machine that can store and deal with large
amount of information.
Generally computer is
an electronic device that accepts data an input, processes. It according to
some pre-defined instructions and produces an output. A computer can be defined
as any programmable electronic device that can retrieve and process data
The firth generation
computer is from (1990) up to present. The trends of further miniaturization of
electronic components. Also dramatic increase in power of microprocessor chips,
Increase of complexity main memory and hard disc continued during fifth
generation.
VLSI technology become
ULSI (ultra large scale Integration) technology in fifth generation resulting
in production of micro-processor chips having ten million electronic components.
In fact the spread of micro-processor and the rise of many memory and hard disc
doubled almost over eighteen months.
Storage technology also
advanced making large main memory and disc storage available in newly
introduced systems, currently PCS having Gigabyte(GB) of main memory and 80 to
320 Gigabyte (GB) of hard disc capacity are common, similarly workstations
having 4-64 Gigabyte of main memory and few hundreds of Gigabytes of hard disc
capacity are common.
The fifth generation
computers are in developmental stage which is based on artificial intelligence.
The goal of fifth generation is to develop the device which could respond to
natural language input and are capable of learning and self-organization.
Quantum computations molecular and nanotechnology will radically change the
face of computer in years to come. The use of parallel processing and
superconductors in helping to make artificial intelligence a reality,
Some computer types of this
generation are
Ø Desktop
Ø Laptop
Ø Notebook
Ø Ultra
Book
Ø Chrome
Book
Artificial Intelligence
is the branch of computer science concerned with making computer behave like
humans. The term was coined in (1956) by John McCarthy at the Mass arch Usetts
Institute of technology
Artificial
Intelligence includes
Games playing-
programming computer to play game such as chess and checkers
Expert system-
programming computers to make decision in real life situations example some
experts system help doctors diagnose disease based on symptoms.
Natural language-computer
to understand natural human languages
Neural network-system
that simulates intelligence by attempting to reproduce the system of physical
connection that occurs that in animal brain,
Robotics-
programming computers to see and hear and react to other sensory stimuli.
Characteristics of fifth
generation computer
Ø The
fifth generation computers will use super large scale integrated chips.
Ø They
will have artificial intelligence.
Ø They
will be able to recognize image and graphs
Ø Fifth
generation computers aims to be able to solve highly complex problem including
decision making, logical reasoning.
Ø Fifth
generation computers are intended to work with natural language.
Advantages of fifth
generation computer
Ø This
computers are much faster than other generation computer
Ø It
is easier to repair than these computers
Ø These
computers are much smaller in size than other generation of computers
Ø They
are portable and easy to handle, this generation allow users to use computing faulty
even when travelling.
Ø Development
of time artificial intelligent.
Ø Advancement
in super conductor technology.
Ø Fifth
generation of computer technology hold an innumerous potential for improvement
of industrial productivity
Ø Managerial
efficiency and rural material, care and literacy at various level
The
following are the advantages of fifth generation in relation to future of the
human.
In
military; the development of fifth generation of computer
also help in a military techniques while the scientist use it in example U.S military and others around the
world are trying to build exoskeleton to enhance soldiers strength and stamina
in military activities this will lead to the increase of crimes to human life.
Banking
area; Robots will perform all bank activities of financial
issue instead of human being and this will results into problem of un
employment to human for the future generation
In
hospital; experts and doctors will be assisted in making
diagnoses by Appling the problem solving
steps, a doctor will use in assessing a patient’s needs. It will take several tasks
like this and finally human being will be replaced in this way. For instance
for supporting surgeons to patients in hospitals.
In
education sector; in teaching and learning process robots
will replace human roles and various works will be taken by advancement of computer
of fifth generation for instance in equation compute
Games
playing; for instance TOPIO (Toys ping pong playing robot)
is a bipedal humanoid robot designed to play table tennis against human being
hence man will be useless
Home
activities; that is opening up and closing gates, these
activities are being done by human but through the use of robot, will lead to
disappearance of safe guardian’s activities.
CONCLUSION.
However,
the rules withdrawing from the work are higher. It is quite clear that if any
national regional group achieves a significant lead in the development of fifth
generation towards sixth generation computers, that group will be the dominant
force in information technology that still in progress and innovation are being
taken so that to ensure full advancement of technology.
